AUSTIN, Texas, August 26, 2026 – Otsuka ICU Medical LLC today announced the groundbreaking of a significant expansion of its IV solutions manufacturing operations in Austin. The project represents an investment of more than $500 million and an important step in the joint venture’s commitment to strengthen the supply and advance the innovation of IV solutions in North America.
The approximately 500,000-square-foot addition will expand the company’s U.S. manufacturing capacity and introduce next-generation production capabilities at its existing Austin site. The project will also include upgrades to current facilities, supporting greater manufacturing efficiency, long-term supply stability and future portfolio development.

The expansion complements Otsuka ICU Medical LLC’s ongoing work to obtain FDA approval for additional manufacturing sites within its global network. Once authorized, these sites are intended to create true global redundancy by enabling supply to shift across regions where and when they’re needed without waiting for emergency use authorization during a disruption.
The project will also support the development of non-PVC, non-DEHP IV solutions, helping healthcare providers prepare for evolving regulatory requirements. This forward-looking capability builds on Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc.’s decades of experience in non-PVC, non-DEHP IV container technology and manufacturing quality.
